James Summers
James Summers is the co-founder of Actum Insights and the Max J. Wortman, Jr. professor and associate professor of management at Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University. He earned his Ph.D. at Florida State University in organizational behavior and human resources management. He has consulted for Fortune 200 Companies, mid-sized companies, non-profits as well as tech and ag startups, consulting on topics such as leadership and team development, executive coaching, human resource management planning and analytics, negotiation and conflict resolution, survey design, and strategic planning and implementation. He has designed and taught courses on leadership, negotiation, organizational behavior, and human resource management across undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, and doctoral levels. He currently is the faculty director of the Ivy MBA and PMBA programs, and was named a Poets&Quants World Top 40 Under 40 MBA professor for 2020. His research interests include team structure, processes, and change, social influence processes including political skill, stigma and status, the nature of work relationships, and the effects of dark personality on ethical behavior. He has published in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Occupational and Health Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Journal of Business Ethics.
