Alan Miller is a recently retired school superintendent and experienced former teacher with over 30 years in the education system. He is a board member of the Iowa Association of School Resource Officers and a member of the National Association of School Resource Officers. Mr. Miller has been a reserve Deputy Sheriff for over nine years and a frequent lecturer and subject matter expert on Active School Shooters and Identifying Potentially Violent Students in Schools. Mr. Miller has trained and consulted with law enforcement and school officials as well as training with school staff members who survived the Columbine High School incident in Littleton, Colorado. He is a certified instructor on Standard Response Protocol, Standard Reunification Method, and Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE). Alan founded Educational Leaders for Safe Iowa Schools. He partners with executive leaders throughout the state to bring this vision of a safe learning environment.
